Shell on a Chain

I am but a shell on a chain

Unable to go as I please

With the tides, the waves, or winter storm

I am tethered to the norm

I am but a shell on a chain

Now I remain the effigy of pain

Constrained, restrained, easily maintained

Never free of the norm

A homage to the sane

Just a decorative shell on a chain
