Midnight Powers

Do you remember the nights where we’d talk for hours

The televisions flashing in the back like midnight powers

Since we met you insisted on breaking down my wall

I would have stayed hidden and quite in my stall

You told me I was safe, that you’d never leave me

You persuaded me to open up so you could see

But the more I’m looking back I think I now know

That despite the theatrics these were evil seeds you sow

I depended on your love in the times when I was scared

But your only need for me was that I always cared
